Was the justice league originally a comic? If so where can I read it online?

I'm kinda tired of manga so I thought I'd try reading something closer to home and thought I might as well see if justice league was a comic to begin with because I use to watch it! If you could also leave other suggestions that would be grand.

Yes, Justice League of America started in 1960 and a new 22 page issue has been released every month since (sometimes more). Sometimes the team's name is abbreviated to JLA, and sometimes they trim the "America" to give it broader appeal (as with the cartoon series). For ease of reading, they usually compile a bunch of issues into a single volume for readers like yourself. I wouldn't recommend starting ALL the way back with the 1960s stuff, though. If you liked the show on cartoon network, this would be a very good place to start:

That is, I believe, 12 issues of material, all in color and twice the size of most manga, so $19.75 is a very good deal.

You can't legally read it anywhere online for free. Manga gets away with it because the companies that produce it are on the other side of the world and don't care quite as much about that, but the American compnies Marvel and DC (DC owns JLA and all the associated characters) really come down hard on anyone who tries to distribute the stuff for free online.

If you don't want to make a purchase on amazon (you should consider it though because they have great deals on lots of stuff) you can find a local comic book store by looking in your yellow pages. Most Borders and Barnes and Nobles will have a comic section right next to the manga section you can peruse as well, and they'll probably have a few JLA books, including the one I just linked.
