Do the Icelandic epics, The Vineland Sagas, contain any actual historical facts or is it all legend/folktales?

The sagas like Vinland Saga started of as historical texts so that people would remember what happened. But like any historical text they are only one mans version of what happened. With the sagas that version got re-told out of memory generation after generation until it got written down some 300 years later. Have you ever played the game of telephone lines: the one where you whisper a message from one person to another and discover that it has changed by the time you have had it retold by several persons? A similar thing applies to any story that has survived to us from before the time it has been written down. The original story is lost in time. Though points for the Icelanders as they did pride themselves on trying to keep the stories as close to the one they learned from the previous story teller, as they did with their Godi (the lawspeakers, who had to recite the law out of memory every year unchanged).
